Upcoming Shows:

  • Sat. April 12th, 9 p.m.
Seems the swells at Bar Lurcat enjoy slumming every once in a while, so they invited us back for a return engagement. Be ready to guzzle their fine vino and throw back some canapes as we try to blow out the windows again. Free. Nine-thirty-ish

Well! That was fun. Just got home from the big tri-band jamboree at Lee's. Anchorhead were their usual terrific selves and Ol' Yeller were great. The VCs recorded their set, so once we erase all the mistakes and swearing, re-mix and have the professional musicians redo our parts, we might see fit to throw it up for you huddled masses to download at no charge. When? You'll just have to check back now, won't you.

Just found out that Dave and Al's (and Kari and Julia's) project, Reverse Cowgirl , will be filming a segment for the TLC network's Makeover Story series. The focus will be on the girls, (though frankly we think it's gilding the lilies) and the lads will be pulled in only at the end to ooh and awwh at the supposed (completely unecessary) cosmetic miracles wrought upon their bandmates. In our opinion it's the other two that need the makeover. Seriously, we think a certain two gentlemen need to take a deep, deep breath and look into a mirror one of these days. Check yourselves before you wreck yourselves. Know what I'm saying?

They' re filming at Lee's on Wednesday, March 12th (early evening), before Lazy Ike. That's the 'before' segment. Then, during their opening slot for Lee Rocker at Lee's on the 14th, the result of the makeover will be revealed. Hoo boy!

Thanks to everyone who came down to Lee's last night. We had a blast. You missed it? Well, it was one of those shows that was so good that people were actually levitating by halfway through the set, and crying tears of joy by the end. Ask anyone. We'll have some pictures up later in the week.

Vibro Losers?

If the papers even sneeze in our direction, we'll post it-Strib blurb (bless you) about tomorrow's show and our straitened economic circumstances, and evidently a sudden line-up change here, (about halfway down the page). Dave plays guitar, not bass, and 10 grand might be a wee overstatement of our losses (though they are still substantial), but other than that a fine piece of reportage by the Strib's music-man-about-town Chris Reimenschneider (bless you again). Interesting comment from Jet City Fix on the sheer unmitigated negligence of the Fine Line in allowing themselves to catch on fire. Really giving the Emerald City something to be proud of guys.

Unbelievably enough, some kind souls have offered to pony up their lunch money so the Upper Midwest might not be Rockabilly deprived, at least of our junky version of it, for too long. Thanks to 21st Century technology we have the ability to hoover your pockets if that's what you really want, though there are things like food banks and homeless shelters and orphanges and lots of other worthwhile causes who might want a few pennies tossed their way too.

But, if you feel you must we don 't mind...we're just a click away.

We'll see you tomorrow. Come down early for Harmonious Wail if you know what's good for you.

Steve Wolf (that's the correct spelling, there's no relation) sent over some more pictures from Monday night's conflagration. The one of the beer glass is a jarring reminder that it's very, very lucky no-one got hurt, especially after the tragedy in Rhode Island last night. What happened here could've been so much worse, and equipment is replaceable. Thanks again to the level headed Fine Line staff and for the MFD's quick response.

According to his website, Link Wray's tour is going on without interruption. He must have some quite resourceful roadies with super magic powers because his gear (and the Jet City Fix's) really took the brunt of the water and smoke damage. Gary, the site's coordinator, contacted us to see if he could do anything to help us out, which was very cool of him. Thanks. Hope we see Link Wray back here soon.

Sorry 'bout tonight's cancellation.

We're still trying to figure out exactly what the damage is after Monday night's fire at the Fine Line.(Read all about it) It didn't look too good when we finally got back in to the bar and retrieved our gear. It didn't last more than ten minutes, but the fire produced a lot of rancid smoke, and when the Minneapolis Fire Department puts out a fire they really put out a fire. Everything was soaked and smokey. That's not really optimum treatment for amplifiers or speakers, nor for drums, guitars and basses. We'll see what can be salvaged.

More dates will be added of course, so be sure to check back regularly, if you like this kind of thing.

In the meantime, if you're jonesin' big time for anything Vibro-champy, don't forget about Lazy Ike and the Daredevils, with the fabulous W.E. Keefe on bass, Wednesdays at Lee's. And Reverse Cowgirl, Dave Wolfe and Al Subola's side project where they play with, not like, girls, can often be seen at various hot spots here in the Twin Cities and seedy dives around the state. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
